Opportunities to be involved:

The city would like to encourage public participation throughout the drafting of the Mooring Field ordinance.  Multiple opportunities are available for sharing your thoughts.

Two public workshops are scheduled in conjunction with the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) monthly meetings.  We have included a message board opportunity within this website as well and ask that you send any general thoughts or specific comments to us.

This process will end with an ordinance that will be presented to the City Council for final approval.

April 3rd Public Information Session Summary Items:

The first public information session showed a great interest by Cape Coral residents, with approximately 40 attending.  Support for the mooring field appeared unanimous.  Concerns expressed during the meeting and submitted via comment cards included:

  • Water quality and dumping (#1 heard/written comment)

  • Multi-day (transient) mooring is supported, however should be limited to a few to several days at a time

  • No live aboard boards

  • Limit the number of boats within the mooring field

  • Limit the sizes of the boats within the mooring field

  • Noise levels hould be included within the ordinance

  • Concerns boats that either be denied permits or will exhaust their permit will move to another Cape Coral location

  • Restrict the amount of boat repair or maintenance that can be done on the water

  • Multiple significant events occur within the Bimini Basin annually that cannot be disrupted by boats in the mooring field
